Senseless

So.

I know you've been dying to know how Sense and Sensibility is coming.

It isn't.

I wanted to like it, I really did. Sue and Janet like it and they are the cool bloggers, so I thought that if I could read it I'd be cool too. Maybe someone would even send me popcorn!

The problem is, I've only read 30 pages and it feels like an eternity. Was she paid by the word? She goes on and on and on. It's a torture chamber you read. LONG on words, short on plot.

So, it's official, I am a literary hillbilly.

Just another thing for my already impressive resume.

I think that it's a love/hate relationship with Jane Austen books. You're either a HUGE fan or don't get it.

Confession: I don't mind the 2 hour Austen movies but not the eternally long A&E specials or books.

I'm with Knittinchick. I love the movie. We should have a girls night and watch the movie (with popcorn of course!)

You're not a literary hillbilly-- just stick with it. You have to sort of work into her rhythm. I had the same experience with three of my now favorite authors-- Austen, Faulkner and Tolkien. The first (several!) times I tried to read all three of them, I found them either impenetrable or boring or both. But now I love them all. Persistence pays off, I promise! :)

Poor Jane Austen. To be so shabbily treated. Have you ever read Michener? THAT guy goes on and on!
