Metaphorically Speaking

I am beginning to think I might blog too much. Let me tell you why. The other day I was out in the garage getting something from the van. It was chilly, but quite tolerable without a coat. Then I opened up the garage door and waves of cold rolled over my poor shivering body. It only took a second or two for my insulated garage to turn just as cold as it was outside. Which was colder than should be legal.

As I stood there courting hypothermia I kept thinking, this would make a great illustration for a deep blog post. I ran through all kinds of metaphors in my head.

This is the best I could come up with. If you open a large garage door in the middle of winter, you will cool down your garage.

Deep eh? I really am considering a career in motivational speaking.

My point? When you start looking for metaphors in a sub-zero garage, maybe it's time for a new hobby.

relax. It could be worse. You could be thinking about how this could be a teachable moment for your children about some sort of life lesson. That would definitely be worse.

The very same thing happened to me just the other day. The cold garage part... not the metaphor searching part. My brain freezes and, therefore, is incapable of even desiring metaphors in the winter. Plus, we've already established that it's COLDER IN ALABAMA THAN IT IS IN CANADA!!!!

But, I'm not complaining. Much. :-)

Interesting how you were thinking about a career as a motivational speaker. Just recently I thought about a career as a life coach. Couldn't you just picture it?

I can picture it! HG uses her renown oratory skills to motivate and momofcrazies keeps them on track with her phenominal coaching (and organizational) skills. Hmmmm I see a business venture coming on. However, the life coach probably needs to clone herself. From my perspective, many are motivated but fewer are moved and fewer still finish.

Perhaps. :-)

Still, if you came up with another hobby, I couldn't vicariously watch your life. And mock you. Or envy you. Or...well, anything. It would suck. Just keep blogging, blogging, blogging....(sung to the tune that the fish sings in "Nemo".)

At least it's a cheap hobby. You didn't spend thousands of dollars to come to that realization. ;)

oh, I totally do this too. I think everything is a blogging metaphor. I forget most of the good ones and usually just say absolutely nothing on my blog. I should start carrying a recorder. Wait...now THAT might be taking it too far for a hobby :)
